MY REVIEW

This book is an amazing dystopian book that brings out a lot of themes that’ll get you thinking, what has humanity come to? From the authors note, I was intrigued. Then the chapters began. I was a bit confused with the characters We and They. Slowly, I realized that the We are the Main Characters while the They are the villians.

All of them have gone through a lot of problems. I honestly can’t imagine someone going through such. They are all alone, looking for a place to stay until they meet each other. They realize that being together is what they needed to be strong and find a way out.

The language used is powerful, seeping deep into my heart. Each if the characters are special, I love the understanding between themselves, even though they have gone through a lot of problems together. Their life, properly messed up. After meeting the They, things change. The They are a hateful kind, using the We in way you could never thing of. Some of the characters I’ve grown attached to, suddenly die mysteriously. All these push the We forward, to strive on their own and do what they think is best. To Run.

The book has a 100 pages which I devoured in a few hours. It was very emotional for me to read, especially after knowing the backstories of the characters, especially Rose, Adelaide, and Samson. Their death tore me apart seriously. This is a story of love, ambition, betrayal, family, and above all, humanity.

I love this book wholly and I definitely recommend it to Dystopian and Horror lovers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Inspired by the stories her grandfather told her, Kyra Ann Dawkins is no stranger to writing. Having published in many papers, she graduated with highest honors from Phillips Exeter Academy and from Columbia University in the City of New York where she majored in Medicine, Literature, and Society. After graduating, she noticed an intense pressure to construct her identity. A champion of oral tradition, she wrote her debut book, The We and the They, to create a narrative space where readers could escape the limits of individuality and experience a story as a member of a new collective. Kyra enjoys The Twilight Zone and is a huge Mickey Mouse fan. When she isn’t visiting museums, you can often find her annoying her younger siblings.
