Darkness never dies.
Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land, all while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. But she canβt outrun her past or her destiny for long.
The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darklingβs game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide herβor risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

Okay so this is the book 2 in the Grishaverse. And honestly i think it’s the worst. I don’t understand why some books are dragged and dragged. Though the book 1 ended in a dilemma, so it’s okay to go for a book 2. But at least it should be structured well. Some other books like TATBILB which is one of my best YA but honestly, it didn’t deserve a book 3. I’m still working up my nerves to read that one. I didn’t get to see my hot Darkling here, so that was not good. I felt bored because I feel his appearance changes the whole game all the time! HE IS TOO HOT!
Back to Seige and Storm. It has about 200 plus pages, the first half is boring. Nothing to show for. The second part is a bit better. But the last few pages is where it got really interesting. And then there’s book 3. I think it would have been better if book 2 and 3 were put together as one. Tbh there were some hot scenes in this one, so yeah, if you want to read a hot fantasy book, then the Grishaverse is the answer.
Alina here was the same more or less. Trying to work with her powers, Mal hindering her and her suppressing her affection towards the Darkling π We didn’t even get to see more of him, i don’t know why. Maybe the book would have been more interesting. Anyway i hope to see more of him in the next book.
Here we’re introduced to a new character, Stumbhod. I’d say he’s witty and quite smart. I like his scenes, especially because of his funny dialogues.
And that’s it for Seige and Storm. Next up is Ruin and Rising. What did you think of this book? Have you read it?
Yes, this book felt a lot more filler-y than the first for sure.

Not to mention alinas character development was very questionable π

Yeah. And I don’t know if I remember it wrong but it seemed her character weakened a little in this book too. Like she seemed more interesting/independent in the first book.

Personally, I very much enjoyed Siege and Storm. There is a lot of character development and it truly prepares you for what to expect in Ruin and Rising. It may be slower in terms of action, but you actually get to see what you can expect, not only in the last book of the original trilogy, but also the upcoming books in the whole Grishaverse universe.
I hope you enjoy the last one more.
